Fluoroscopy provides real-time dynamic imaging (continuous X-ray movie) of internal structures to aid with the diagnosis of conditions that may not be apparent on static radiographs. This allows for the evaluation of an in-action motion or motility of various structures to aid in the diagnosis of various dynamic diseases.

Common diseases that are diagnosed by utilizing Fluoroscopy include
Dynamic tracheal collapse (video fluoroscopic dynamic airway exam)
Esophageal dysmotility (video fluoroscopic swallow study).
