Tuskegee University Veterinary Teaching Hospital Referral Guidelines
We welcome referrals and offer three convenient ways to connect with our team:


1️ Urgent Appointments
For emergency referrals, please call us directly at 334-727-8461. We will provide a prompt and definite answer regarding same-day availability. Our goal is to avoid delays and ensure timely care.

2️ Case Discussion or Estimate Requests
If you need to discuss a case or request an estimate:

  • Call us at 334-727-8461
  • Email: tucvmvetcare@tuskegee.edu
  • Fax: 334-727-4842 Please include the referral form and indicate if you’d like a callback.
3️ Non-Urgent Referrals
If no immediate discussion is needed:
  • Submit the referral form via fax or online. We will contact your client directly to schedule the appointment and confirm with you via phone or fax.
Additional Information
  • For non-urgent appointments, we typically reach out to the pet owner directly with scheduling details.
  • In some cases, it may not be in the patient’s best interest to complete all diagnostics or procedures in a single day. This may require overnight hospitalization or a return visit for specific treatments.

The Tuskegee University School of Veterinary Medicine is an American Veterinary Medical Association-approved provider of continuing medical education for veterinarians. The veterinary medical teaching hospital offers lectures and all-day symposia for technicians and referring veterinarians covering veterinary medical problems of companion animals, equine, and farm animals. In addition, we offer programs to improve clinical skills through "hands-on" laboratories and lectures covering a wide range of topics. How to Schedule an Appointment

When scheduling an appointment at the VTH, please be prepared to provide the following information:

* Owner’s name

* Telephone numbers and email addresses

* Patient species, breed, age, sex, color

* Presenting complaint or patient problem

* Has your pet been seen by a veterinarian for this problem?

* Name of your veterinarian or clinic

* Does your animal have a current rabies vaccination?

Regularly-Scheduled Appointment Hours:

M - F 8:30 am - 4:30 pm

Sat - 9:00am - 11:00am
