The Shelter Medicine Program at the Tuskegee University College of Veterinary Medicine is a vital and rapidly growing component of veterinary education. Our program provides essential hands-on training for veterinary students while delivering compassionate, high-quality care to animals in our partnering shelters and in the surrounding community.

Each week, our veterinary students, clinicians, and technicians travel to these partner facilities to provide essential veterinary services. In addition, spay and neuter surgeries are performed at the College of Veterinary Medicine by our veterinary surgery students.
Our team also participates in annual community events—such as Bark in the Park—where we offer on-site veterinary care to pets in need.
House Call Services
To better serve our community, we provide house call visits for elderly clients and those without access to transportation. During these visits, our shelter medicine team offers compassionate veterinary care directly in the client’s home.
